A week of C I N E M A P R T I E S at the 20th Sofia International Film Festival

P.I.F., Skiller, Doesn’t Frogs
and many more festival
musicians will be on stage at Matti’D

Once again Sofia International Film Festival guests will have the chance to enjoy party evenings after watching their select films. From 10 to 20 March Matti'D hall (above Lumière cinema) will once AGAIN be a festival place for cinema encounters and musical experiences.

It all starts 11 March with the fiery JARAVA who shoot humorous texts and dance beats. Svetlyo Bilyarski’s band will cheer us up with their hits Boss, You’re Fired, Don’t Get Strung up over Shit and How to Make Cash. Of course the performance will feature the Wickeda brass section and guest musicians who will come to Matti’D straignt from the Good Morning, Captain premiere.

On saturday DOESN’T FROGS will plunge us into noisy pop and mystic euphoria as they always do at live performances. The trio isn’t too much into singing but they are keen on synthesisers, electronic samples and guitar riffs. They play exciting, somewhat industrial new wave, always at lights off.

DJ ONZY (a.k.a. Lyucho from Q-Check) will make filmgoers dance to their favourite rock'n'roll, surf rock, rockabilly classics. On 14 March there will be a performance by a band that still hasn’t found a name but they do have everything else the audience would appreciate.

A BAND LOOKING FOR A NAME combine elements of soul, jazz, funk, blues and alternative rock but sound like nothing but themselves. Their first concert was only three months ago but they’ve already recorded an album ready to be released and are currently working on a second one.

Speaking of new albums: Hear ye, hear ye! P.I.F. are joining in on 15 March. Apart from their newest tracks, especially for music and film fans Dimo and Co. will play a few covers of favourite Freddie Mercury songs. We’re in for a mini tribute after the special screening of Queen: Days of Our Lives.

SURBAHAR LIVE BAND’s music is a mixture of ambient, world music, progressive trans and tripping techno. On 16 March musician and producer Pavel Stoychev and the rest of the band will come on stage, to present his music in all its beauty and power.

MAGI PETROVICH & SKILLER LIVE BAND will top of the music and film week. On 17 March the young cellist and the world-renowned beatboxer Skiller will fill the space with virtuoso sound and vibrations. But far from being the end, the last concert is only the beginning... right after the premiere of Et le Bal Continue.

Entry to all musical events at Matti’D hall is free with a film ticket. TICKETs in a CAN also give you access to the festival’s party program. Gigs start after 22:00.
