Son of Saul, a film to honour International Holocaust Remembrance Day

To commemorate the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Lux Prize and the distributors are promoting tomorrow a special screenings of Son of Saul  in Belgium, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia.

The screening of the film on 27th January 6:00 pm (CET) will be preceded by a conversation between the lead actor of the film, Géza Röhrig, and the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz lived-streamed on Youtube at LUX FILM PRIZE.  

The Open Talk between Géza Röhrig and Martin Schultz will be animated by the questions live twitted by the online viewers using the #SonofSaulEP and  #LuxPrize hashtags. 

The LUX Prize may well have been awarded back in December, but it remains actively committed to its principles throughout the entire year. The European Parliament's initiative, which aims to promote cultural and linguistic diversity, as enshrined in Article 22 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

Son of Saul has had an astonishing international run since its first bow at the Cannes Film Festival, where it took home the Grand Prize. After being selected for the 2015 LUX Prize, the film also went on to win several awards on the other side of the pond, such as the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film (read the news), and is one of the frontrunners for the upcoming Oscars (read the news).

Nemes' film has been hailed as one of the most important movies in recent European cinema, approaching the horrors of the Holocaust in a completely different way that manages to force every viewer to ask themselves new, more profound questions – digging deeper to the core of everything, beyond laws, communities and society: right down to the human condition itself.
