Terry Jones, director (UK)
The British writer, director, actor and songwriter was a special guest of the 10th anniversary Sofia International Film Festival for the mini programme of 3 titles from the Monty Python series. These are the legendary Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1974) (picked by British audiences as best British film of all time), Life of Brian (1979) and The Meaning of Life (1983). He participates in the three films as an actor as well as being their director and scriptwriter. He has also written over 30 other films, amongst which is Labyrinth (1986). Jones is also responsible for the whole score of The Meaning of Life (which won the Jury’s Grand Prix Award at Cannes) as well as all or parts of the scores for the other Monty Python films. "History is not always what actually happened, but what people what to think happened", states the Oxford history graduate who as well as being an actor, director and scriptwriter is a narrator and host of historical television documentaries and a history lecturer at UCLA.
Terry Jones was awarded the Sofia Municipality award for outstanding achievements in world cinema in 2006.
Three of the Monty Pyton films were screened during the festival.
