Alexander McQueen once said that his chaotic life would make a good film. The Legacy Of Alexander McQueen is now available, unfortunately speaking of McQueen already in the past tense. The designer had been long suffering from insomnia, anxiety and depression, and in addition to intense work he was struck by another great loss, when his mother passed away. All this was too much to bear and on 11 February 2010, a day before his mother’s funeral, he committed suicide, leaving a note saying, “Look after my dogs, sorry, I love you, Lee”.
Apart from this small note, he left behind a rich legacy. McQueen’s made an immense contribution to fashion, and it is still too early to realise its actual extent and impact. The makers of “The Legacy Of Alexander McQueen” have said it to be the will of the designer. Including also scenes of McQueen himself, the main focus is on his works, particularly his latest collections and sources of inspiration.
